Meet Your Farrell’s Little Elm Family!

Get to know our great team of coaches, instructors, managers and owners!

I was part of the fall 2011 session in Bloomington, IL. I responded to a radio ad and was interested in eliminating some bad eating and exercising habits. Making that call was probably the most important decision I’ve made in my life. I completed the 10-week challenge with perfect attendance, lost 15 pounds, completed 100 push-ups during the final test (the record at that time) and most importantly obtained the knowledge of living a healthy life.

Now I look to bring that same life-changing experience to the state I call home, Texas.

I began struggling with my weight starting in my early 20’s. A bad diet and lack of exercise slowly packed on the pounds. The weight issues compounded after the birth of both of our daughters. Particularly after the 2nd child, I found that the baby weight would not come off on its own. I have always loved running and thought that marathon training would help, but that did little to lose the weight. Not seeing results discouraged me even more which caused the bad eating habits to continue. I had watched female members of my family battle weight issues their entire life to the point of having decreased mobility. Watching my mother get winded easily from simple activity made me realize I needed to be in better shape for my children.

I had watched fad diets and weight loss surgeries fail with family members and knew the only true way was through proper nutrition and exercise. It had to be the right exercise though. I was not interested in being bored at the gym with lack of accountability. At the time Mustaali was participating in his 10 week session at Farrell’s, I was taking a boot camp 3 days a week. Although it was better than the gym, I didn’t really feel accountable to be there and it slowly uninterested me. I started following the Farrell’s nutrition with my husband and began seeing incremental changes. In January 2012 I joined Farrell’s and that decision changed my life.

I promised myself that I was going to give it 110%. Although I never thought I would have the chance of winning the challenge, I wanted to end my 10 weeks knowing that every day I gave it my Level 10 and that there was nothing I could have done different to get better results.

At orientation…I gave it my level 10. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do a ton of push-ups on my toes, but I wanted to see how I would improve. I did 15 on my toes the day of orientation. Through the 10 week program, I gave it my Level 10 every day. I attended the 5am class and prided myself on my attendance. I had to miss 3 days total due to a preplanned business trip, but I purchased bands, made sure to complete my workouts, and stuck with my nutrition.

I ended the 10 week program on March 17, 2012 in better shape mentally and physically than I had ever been. I lost over 10 inches and 16.6 pounds which was 13% of my starting body weight. I also attempted to break Mustaali’s push-up record of 100 by completing 70 push-ups on my toes in a minute. I was a stronger me than I ever thought possible.

When my name was announced as one of the $1000 winner’s of my session, I was beyond stunned. Without the motivation from my coach, all of the instructors, and my partner and peers, I would have never seen the results that I did. I was inspired to give back by also becoming a coach and inspiring others. Multiple friends and family have now participated in this program and have received incredible results.

My story begins in Bloomington IL with a New Year’s resolution for 2010. Like most people I always made resolutions but never ended up following through with them. For as long as I can remember I have been overweight. I was always putting everyone else’s needs before my own. I had become a pro at lying to myself—tricking myself into thinking I wasn’t as unhealthy as I actually was. I don’t remember the exact reason why, but something just snapped within me and I knew I needed to make a change. When I stepped onto the scale January of 2010, I looked down to see a 325 staring right back at me. I decided I wasn’t going to allow myself to be fooled by my own lies anymore. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and thinking "What happened? How did you allow yourself to become this person?" So then I asked myself "What are you going to do about this?" and decided then and there to change my life.

For the first time I decided to make the change, not for anyone else: this one was for me. I started eating right and going to the gym, taking the stairs—anything I could do. I had some good success doing things on my own and I was very self-motivated. I heard of a new program called Ferrell’s ExtremeBodyShaping opening up. I hadn’t had a support group before but joined as part of their initial 10 week session. At Ferrell’s I found exactly what I needed—a group of people who wanted to make a change in their life and knew the emotions and struggles I dealt with. I was excited to continue my journey and be able to share my story and help others to succeed just as I was. After my initial 10 week session was over, I was so excited and so motivated with this program that I decided to become an instructor. I had gone on to lose 100+ POUNDS!!! I was overwhelmed with the changes and successes I have made.

I had met my wife, now have 2 beautiful daughters, and relocated to Dallas TX. After being away from the gym and finding all the excuses not to find the time, I found myself back there at the 327 pound mark. Discouraged and down I saw that Shannon and Mustaali were in Dallas as well, and opening up a FXB!!! I joined as part of their grand opening! During my 10 week session here in Texas, I lost over 26 pounds, tripled my pushups and sit-ups, shaved over 3 ½ mins off my mile run and was back on my journey getting the support and motivation from my new Texas Family! I have gained my confidence back and know that I did it once, I can do it again. I'm here to help and support anyone that I can, and if I can do it you can do it! Let’s get to our goals together!!
Fitness has always been very important to me, but over the last few years I somehow lost sight. I was feeling weak, out of breath, tired and just overall felt I was only functioning at 75%. The program I had put myself on just seemed to not be giving me what I needed. A close friend of mine suggested I join the Farrell’s program. I decided to go in for a free trial, and the first moment I walked into the studio, I was greeted with big smiles and felt completely comfortable. Afterwards I thought to myself, “This is going to be a very big challenge”. Little did I know what a life-changing event it would become. I can’t express in enough words how grateful I am for this program. The Farrell’s program is the only program I have ever done in my lifetime that has given me the results I was looking for. I use to dread getting up and going for a run, or going to the gym, but with Farrell’s, I can’t wait to go and see everyone’s faces. The camaraderie with my Farrell’s family has far exceeded what I ever thought possible.

During my 10 weeks, I successful changed my eating habits, lost 12lbs, 6 % body fat and finally taken control of my weight. I have gain significant strength and still continue to do so. What caught me of guard was not only do I feel physically healthy, but mentally healthy as well. It was no brainer to continue my journey as a FIT member and it feels great to be a part of other people’s transformations as well. I highly recommend Farrell’s to everyone; no matter what goals you have set for yourself they can absolutely be met.

Overweight, tired, poor health, achy joints, failing confidence and emotionally drained are not the descriptors of the person I wanted to be. But, it was the person I was becoming more and more each day. Spending time with my husband and our kids have always been the bright spot as we enjoy our time together. However, following a year of constant change, I was beginning to feel a bit lost with only focusing on everyone else around me and ignoring myself…my health…my spirit. It was time to snap back into it remember who I was and what I’m capable of!

I’d tried all sorts of boot camps, gym memberships, ordered as-seen-on-TV videos that would work for a short period of time but wouldn’t stick for very long. They weren’t very engaging so it was easy to fall off the wagon. So when I saw Shannon & Mustaali’s new membership ads for the new Farrell’s program coming soon nearby, I was encouraged but on the fence and a bit skeptical. I looked up the site to find out more on the program and then made the phone call. I spoke with Shannon and it sounded promising, a fun program my husband & I could join to motivate each other. However, due to his travel schedule at the time, the starting session wasn’t going to work for him to join with me right away. A bit disappointed, I suggested we wait for the next session so we could start the 10 week challenge together. He told me no and encouraged me to check it out alone, motivate myself, and get back to the old me because he knew I could…he was right! After sharing a bit of my story with Mustaali, he shared an inspirational video with me of a Farrell’s success story and low and behold, I saw part of MY story. After that moment, no more reservations, it was time to begin!

Week 1 wasn’t easy. I was thrown into the full swing of cardio & strength training. I was sweating a lot, couldn’t breathe, sore all over and I loved it! It was a routine that I longed missed from days of old. I’ve met some really great FXB people like Allison Kulle, Nick Francour and many others on my transformative journey who re-ignited a passion and competitive spirit that I had long forgotten. But I wasn’t competing with anyone else other than myself. Resetting goals, remembering the satisfaction in hitting them and continuing to adjust and go bigger to hitting my Level 10. I know what that means…MY LEVEL 10. My level 10 is knowing I gave it everything I had for 45 minutes, not giving up, getting rid of the old excuses, staying on track with better nutrition. All of this led to vast improvements in my health with weight loss, increased energy, regained confidence, and most importantly quality time with my family.

I now get to enjoy helping others hit their Level 10 through coaching and instructing. It’s one of the most rewarding opportunities to help others on their journey and I hope I can help inspire them to do the things I know they can achieve!

Finally taking that step into the Farrell’s Extreme Body in Little Elm, Texas has led to many life changing steps to being a healthier and happier person. I cannot thank Shannon & Mustaali Carbaidwala enough for helping to guide my focus on what’s most important…ME. Three sessions working at Level 10 has led to a healthier and sustainable routine that’s enabled me to improve my health & well-being so I am around to continue to participate and take care of my family while guiding others on a similar path. I feel like my old self is now my new self…

THANK YOU!
